“Succesfull restructuring requires a lot of management attention”
Since 2015, Gerbrand Nijman has been responsible as Group CFO for the restructuring of Global Telecom Holding S.A.E. (“GTH”). At that time, a company listed on the Stock Exchanges in London and Cairo with more than 70 legal entities in:
- Africa: Algeria, Egypt, Tunisia
- Americas: Canada, USA
- Asia: Bangladesh, Pakistan
- Europe: England, Italy, Luxembourg, Malta, Switzerland, The Netherlands
- Middle East: Dubai, Iraq, Jordan
When Gerbrand left GTH, the group had been reduced to 10 companies, achieved by selling, merging and liquidating entities.
How can we support your company with the restructuing of entities in various countries?
We could manage the restructuring process on your behalf, but we also can carve out the to be liquidated entities from your company. The latter would require a proper due diligence of course.
Our experience is that having a clear focus and dedication helps in executing the restructuring. Too often execution is delayed as attention slips due to employees being focused on their core tasks.
As a legal entity costs on average between EUR 25K and 50K per annum, having dedicated external management of the restructuring process has a short payback time. More importantly your own staff can focus on their core tasks, which adds even more value.
Approach:
We set up a clear project structure of the restructuring proces. With well defined responsibilities and a detailed step plan per entity with clear timelines and tasks needs to be established and kept up to date. A weekly workgroup call per country with a detailed and thorough follow up will be organised. In addition, a monthly progress meeting with the internal responsbile management should be held.
